Here we are in late October and when the sun is shining, there are still a lot of bugs out and about. Here are all the flying insects I found on my white aster in the back yard. Watching all the activity reminded me of sitting down at the mall and watching shoppers scurrying in and out of stores. The aster was never quiet!
As I am able to identify these flyers, I will add their labels to the photos.
Above, honey bee sipping nectar and gathering pollen from the flower.
The long antennae of this bug should help to identify him. Anyone have a clue on his name?
I wanted to show the scale of the aster flower. Now that you can see how small they are (less than 1/2 inch), you can get the idea how small the insects are that land on the flower.
