Born and raised on a farm in Eastern Oregon, Vanessa has experienced the value of water and the dread of drought. So when she planned her garden in her new home near Parma, she designed a drought tolerant landscape.
Drought tolerant does not mean colorless and by planting a variety of shrubs and perennials that bloom at different times throughout the spring and summer, there is always something in bloom.
Her favorite time to add new plants to her landscape is in the fall, since the warm soil encourages root growth establishing the plants for the following spring.
Of course, the other benefit is that many nurseries offer a lot of plants at half price, too!
