Flowers open in the afternoon, giving it the common name of "four o'clock". This perennial has a large taproot and can spread up to three feet across. The bright pink flowers are very showy. Drought tolerant, low maintenance plant does best in gravelly soils.

Attractive to many different pollinators, this plant is dependent on the hawkmoth for pollination.
