A short-lived perennial with brilliant red tubular flowers and evergreen foliage. The flower shape makes it a favorite for hummingbirds. It requires well-drained gravelly soils and has excellent cold tolerance. Drought tolerant. Attractive to many other pollinators, including bees, and moths.
