The cultivar, 'Compactum' stays shorter (2-3 feet high) than most Oregon grapes. Blooms around April with bright yellow flowers that are very attractive to many native bees. Produces a blue-black berry in late summer. Leaves are a glossy green, that turn bronze in winter.
