Pansy

Violaceae x. wittrockiana

Pansies are a hybrid bushy perennial, often grown as an annual, they prefer cooler weather. They can be planted in the fall for seasonal color and then will be dormant through the winter. In early spring they awaken and provide beautiful early color. They can be found in multiple shades of white, blue, purple, orange, yellow, pink, red and almost black.

These are great in containers but once the heat arrives they need more shade and pruning or they become long and gangly. Flowers are edible.
