The flowers are orange with purple calyxes, giving it the common name of sunset hyssop, leaves are fragrant, smelling of anise. Drought tolerant, heat tolerant. The use of sand or gravel for mulch can help for better drainage. A short lived perennial, this plant is a favorite of hummingbirds.
