There are hundreds of varieties and cultivars of the zinnia flower. In the Treasure Valley it is grown as an annual, it can be direct seeded but its best transplanted for an earlier bloom. The bright colors make it a garden stand out. Zinnias can range in size from 4 inches to 3 feet tall. The taller zinnias generally require staking or some type of support. Deadheading keeps the flower blooming and looking its best.
